“Not thinking, maybe that’s what god is?” – Jo Foster, in an off the cuff attempt to define god is a positive light, but inadvertently summing up the perfect thought.
This discussion happens over a game of pool (I was victor), in a small pub in Huntly. It has the most tremendous hostel I have ever slept in, and better than many hotels I’ve stayed. Whether this town could hold me, I’d certainly visit again.
Discussions the next day at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden raised a few ideas of opposition to beauracracy through business as a form of activism and, ultimately, ‘art’.
It fuelled my thoughts of Dundee’s ‘jump through our hoops’ mentality, that many cities share. Many fail to understand why they are in place, including those who implement them.
I propose I push the boat out over the next few weeks, whether I’m in it or swimming alongside it.
“Is Edward Shallow dead?”
“No, not exactly.”
“Yeah he is!”
Idea for the Day: Alter your space in some way as to make an everyday task easier to accomplish. ( Rearrange a cupboard or move commonly used items in to close proximity).
